Morbius 2 Release Date: What We Know So Far

The first Morbius movie was a critical and commercial disappointment, but that hasn't stopped fans from wondering if there will be a Morbius 2. So far, there has been no official announcement from Sony Pictures, but there are a few clues that suggest that a sequel could be in the works.
One of the biggest clues that a Morbius 2 is possible is the ending of the first movie. The movie ends with Morbius (Jared Leto) seemingly turning to the side of good, but there is a post-credits scene that suggests that he may not be as cured as he thought. In the scene, Morbius is visited by Vulture (Michael Keaton), who is setting up a Sinister Six team. This suggests that Morbius could be a major player in the MCU's Spider-Man universe, which could lead to a sequel.
Another clue that a Morbius 2 is possible is the box office performance of the first movie. While the movie was a disappointment in the US, it was a hit overseas, grossing over $163 million worldwide. This suggests that there is still an audience for Morbius movies, which could give Sony Pictures the incentive to make a sequel.
Matt Smith was pretty chill about the movie's underperformance. "It's a film, at the end of the day, we're not saving lives. For whatever reason, it didn't quite work out and… It is what it is," he said in August 2022.
Of course, if Sony wants a sequel, then it could still happen and the first movie certainly hints at a follow-up – and we're not just talking the potential of a Spider-Man crossover.

Morbius 2 potential release date: When can we expect Morbius 2?
As mentioned above, Morbius 2 has yet to be confirmed so there isn't an official release date as of yet.
Sony has a busy couple of years ahead for its Marvel projects, starting with Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse on June 2, 2023, so it's tricky to see where the sequel can fit in right now.
Fellow Spider-Man spin-off Kraven the Hunter is set to follow on October 6, 2023, then El Muerto on January 12, 2024 and Madame Web on February 16, 2024. There's also an undated, but confirmed, Venom 3 to come.
Even if it was confirmed, it's likely we'll have to wait until at least 2024 for Morbius 2 to arrive if it gets confirmed. We'll update this if we hear anything though.
